(MST / Speedmaniacs.de) – On Wednesday Studio 397 released the new main build of rFactor 2 via Steam, which comes with new and improved functions, corrections and changes. One of the innovations is the possibility to have the vehicle headlights and windshield wipers activated automatically by the software depending on the conditions.

There is a new main build for rF2 pilots
“If the windshield wipers are set to ‘Auto’, the simulation detects when it starts to rain and switches the windshield wipers on. Of course, these functions can also be triggered manually by the player. If a player has neither lights nor windshield wipers assigned to his controller, it detects rFactor 2 recognizes this fact and applies the automation routine itself. This means that players who have forgotten to assign the function for the headlights to their controller are disqualified from the race when it gets dark on the track. “
Furthermore, in the area of graphics, work was carried out on realistically depicting the representation even under extreme conditions. For this purpose, the development team has revised the automatic exposure so that it “jumps” less under various conditions and is introducing this into rFactor 2 for the cockpit cameras. The way in which the Sunflare effects are used has also been refined and the effects have been better tuned for the many different times of the day and weather conditions in order to obtain a realistic result.
“We paid attention to how sunspots are represented in the various field of view configurations used by our community. We also put extra work into making sure the transitions in and out of the glare reflect what they are in real life which improves the immersion and visual experience of the effect and overall behavior of rFactor 2 in situations with high glare on the racetrack. “
rFactor 2 – May build 05/19/2021:
-Added SteamID of each client to race results logs generated by a dedicated server
-Fix issue with Attack Mode overlay information not correctly resetting.
-Stopped AI playing wipers when in garage
-Added automatic headlight and wiper settings for player.

Renamed Anti-Aliasing options to show the amount of MSAA applied.

-Added a blend out at screen edge to smooth transition of Sunflare going off screen.

-Fixed an issue that DigitalFlags would behave as Marshals online

-Added pop up (mod dev and scene viewer only) / logging to paths where the RRBIN file fails to load
-Force an update after loading RRBIN in scene viewer or moddev so that it shows correctly straight away.
-Updated default RRBIN filename scene viewer / moddev tweakbar rollout
-Set-up a stable and beta version of Max Plugins 2021. Stable is the last fully tested internally. Beta is built to the absolute latest code.
-The new Public build is available on the standard release branch of rFactor 2 within Steam (Betas – None).
Players can chose to opt into this build version by right-clicking on rFactor 2 in the Steam Library list, selecting options – betas – none from the drop-down list.
